FAQs:
Q: When will I know if I have been selected to sponsor a child in Swaziland?
A: Once we have reviewed all of the sponsorship registration forms obtained from the weekend of April 30/May 1, 2016, you will be notified by email within 10 days or less from this weekend.
Q: In the event I am not selected to sponsor a child, what is the next step for me?
A: We will do our best to match every person who completes a Child Sponsorship registration form with a child. If we end up with more sponsors than available children, you will be automatically placed on a waiting list. While on the waiting list you will have the ability to be matched with a child as soon as additional ones are made available to us. Since the new school year begins in January of 2017, we should be notified by the end of November 2016 of how many more children will be available.
Q: What things are covered by my monthly support payments for my sponsored child?
A: Education costs, uniforms, a meal 5 days a week, school supplies, and administrative fees.
Q: What information will I receive in this email about the child I will be sponsoring?
A: In order to sustain the high level of confidentially our partner in Swaziland has for each child, initially you will only be given the gender and age of the child, along with their case number. You will be also be given directions on how to set up your monthly auto-payment.
Q: What options will I have to choose from to set up my monthly auto-payment?
A: The choices available for this program will be either using a credit card or an ACH (Automated Clearing House) deduction from your financial institution. Instructions on how to do this will be found at the link we provide you.
Q: What will be the next step in obtaining information about the child I will be sponsoring?
A: Once we have received confirmation that your auto-payment set up has been completed, we will send your information along with the case number to our partners in Swaziland for final processing. You can expect to receive a welcome letter from Challenge Ministries during the month of June. The letter will provide you with a link and security passcode that will allow only you to be able to view the picture, name, age, and a brief profile on your sponsored child.
Q: Will I receive information about how I can communicate with my sponsored child?
A: Yes, those details will be included in your welcome letter.
Q: How often will I get updates on my sponsored child?
A: You can plan to receive updates on your child at least 4 times a year, including a new photo once a year, along with school newsletters.
Q: Would I have an opportunity to visit the child I sponsor at some point?
A: One on one personal visits are not possible. In the event that you participate in a CLC sponsored Swaziland Missions trip and your team visits the ICBC where your sponsored child is located, we will do our best to arrange for you to visit their classroom. You would be introduced as a “friend of Challenge Ministries”.
Q: If I am unable to commit to a monthly sponsorship, would I be able to still donate to the Child Sponsorship Initiative?
A: Yes, you can either give a one-time donation, or as often as you would like. Your donation will greatly assist us with additional administrative fees, and help to cover the cost for any gaps in children being sponsored.
